The School Nutrition Association sponsors a Heart of the Program Award. This award is designed to recognize the valuable program contribution of school foodservice and nutrition employees who work with their manager to prepare and serve appetizing meals to children. These employees can make the difference between an outstanding program or an average program.

Each year SNA honors school foodservice and nutrition professionals with the Louise Sublette Award, which is considered the highest honor a foodservice professional can earn. It recognizes the importance of those closest to the school foodservice program, the managers and foodservice assistants.
